Okay, for Phil's birthday Jacob started babbling. For our anniversary, Jacob is now officially crawling! How crazy is that? By the way, those stacking cups are the best $3 I ever spent. You have got to see this...

Yes, that's right...My baby can crawl!!!

Happy Anniversary

3 years ago today, Phil and I were married. I still can't believe it's been 3 years already! I guess time does fly when you are having fun...Loverrr, you still are the love of my life.
Phil just had to know what the 3rd anniversary gift was so he could get me the traditional present. It's leather. So he got me some! He gave me a leather jacket...a really really nice one.
Last night, my best friend came over and babysat Jacob so we could go out. We went to the movies and saw The Brother's Grimm. It was our second date since having Jacob. We really need to set up a date night, at least once a month.
I really can't believe how much things have changed since having Jacob, but I wouldn't change a thing.
I love my husband. I love my son. I am truly happy...

And I should really share with you the pictures I had done with Jacob for Phil. I have been waiting until I could give him his present, and now I can show them to you. So here they are:

And my favorite...

6 months old???

Jacob is 6 months old as of Monday. He weighs 15 lbs 1.5 oz and is 25 1/4 inches tall. He is currently in the 5th percentile, which is pretty small. But he's cute!

Kinda makes you want to gobble up his little toes!

And he just learned how to let mommy help him make funny noises...

Now if we could only get him to sleep through the night...

A little girl named Rebekah

I am sad. There is a little girl named Rebekah who is very sick. You can see her family's blog at http://rebekahspage.blogspot.com/ (I also put a link on the side). Please, when you get a moment, say a prayer for her and her family. They have already been through so much. I can't imagine, and it saddens my heart so.

I wanna new blog

Well, what do you think of the new look? Much thanks to Flutterblog (Yes, this would be design by me, implementation by Phil under the guise of Flutterby Studio)!
I have to go now. Dinner's a callin!

Little man standing

I never thought learning lullabies would be so important. We have a 3 song repertoire that consists of Twinkle Twinkle, You Are My Sunshine, and I Believe I Can Cry (an adaptation of 'I Believe I Can Fly by R. Kelly).

I have had to add a verse to Twinkle Twinkle:

Hush now, Hush now baby J
Everything will be okay
Close your eyes and rest your head
It is time to go to bed
Hush now, Hush now baby J
Everything will be okay

The other verses to You Are My Sunshine are pretty depressing:

The other nite, dear
As I lay sleeping
I dreamed I held you in my arms
When I awoke, dear
I was mistaken
And I hung my head and cried

You told me once, dear
You really loved me
And no one else could come between
But now you've left me
And love another
You have shattered all my dreams

Yeah...I won't be singing that to him...

And then there is his favorite, I Believe I Can Cry. This one usually puts him in a good mood:

I believe I can cry
See the tear drops in my eyes
I'm gonna do it every night and day
Set me down, I'll cry away
I believe I can scream
Because my mommy is so very mean
I believe I can cry
I believe I can cry
I believe I can cry
Whaaaa!
Cause I believe I'm blue-ooooooooo-ooooo

I need more songs. I did pick up on a new one recently, Swing on a Star. I like it cause it's longer, and it's not too depressing.

Last night went pretty well. Jacob only woke up twice, at 2:15 and 6:15. It must be me. I woke up about 5 minutes before he did both times, and they aren't even his normal wake up times.
So the avocado is working (I hope)

Here is the picture of the day. Look at the little man standing! Yes, I'm next to him just in case.

The avocado coincidence

Jacob still doesn't sleep through the night. On a few rare occasions, he slept for a whole 5 hours straight...but we're talking rare. Someone in the Mommy & Me group suggested feeding him avocado, which makes perfect sence because avocado is high in fat, much like breast milk. The first night he consumed the new yummy substance, he woke up an hour into his nighttime slumber and was awake for an hour before we could get him back into bed. He was miserable. The second night, he woke up again, this time for an hour and a half. But then he slept for 4 hours, breastfed, and then slept another 3.5 hours. So we agreed that we would hold off on the avocado last night and see if that took care of the insomnia problem.
I swear, having a baby is just a big science experiment. We spend more time on cause and effect... Anyway, last night he did it again. He was up, he was in pain, he was miserable, and therefore so were we. He is teething. He wakes up because his poor little gums hurt. And then he woke up at 3:30 this morning and played "Where's my baby?" (peek-a-boo) with himself, and fussed because he was hungry. I gave up and brought him to bed. I had been up so many times already.
We are going back to avocado tonight. He woke up less because of hunger. He will still wake up because of teething. We give him tylenol and motrin alternately, and teething tablets otherwise. But he is still in pain. Poor baby... We are not sure of what else to do.
On another note, I love to take pictures. And so, I have been fooling around with the camera and different programs to get & edit these shots...

I don't think professional photography is in my future, but I sure like to have fun with it. Gotta go, Jacob is trying to eat my knees again...

2-fer-1 posts

I just had to post an update...
We went to the Mommy & Me group today and I got to weigh Jacob. He's 15 lbs 6 oz!!! Now of course I have to admit that I weighed him twice. The first time he was 15 lbs2 oz and then he ate. But I justify this by noting that he had a significant blowout before we got there. And I also have to say that my little man likes to show off at these things. Do you know what he did? Crawled! Yes, that's right...he crawled!
We also learned that he can have avocado, so we just tried that for dinner. He was skeptical at first, but he likes it!

I'd better go before he eats my laptop...

A long absence

Forgive me readers (Phil & Carrie - I'm pretty sure you are the only ones that read this), for I have been absent...It's been 83 days since my last post (on this one anyway)...

So much has happened, and Jacob has grown. In 6 short days, he will be 6 months old! He is small for his age, but getting so big. At last check, he weighed in at 14 lbs 12 oz. I want him to hit the 15 lb mark for his 6 month well-baby visit. I temporarily suspended his solid food intake because he was spitting up too much. He is also teething pretty hardcore right now and has been in a lot of pain at night. No sleep for the parents! I am so exhausted...

So, I should recap the past 83 days...Well, we left for our National Tour (yes, I still need to update it) on May 28th and got back home July 6th, so that is 40 of the days right there! So, in then we spent the next 2 weeks decompressing from our trip and trying to move back into our house. It's amazing how much stuff fits in an RV! What can I say about the rest of the time? I've had my hands full with a baby, and I have been trying to keep busy. I decided to get out of the house more. It's unhealthy for me to dwell in my cave for too long. I need out, into the sunshine, where the people are... I have been trying to get out every day. It's becoming increasingly more difficult to do without spending money.

Speaking of spending money (just kidding honey), Jacob got his pictures done at Sears and I need to share his 4, 5, and now 6 month photos:

He's a little ham at 4 months old! But an adorable one...

Here he is at 5 months old. He was just beginning to sit for short periods (30 seconds) unaided.

And this was the day before yesterday. He sits up for as long as he wants. Oh my little man is growing so fast!

And because it was the 1/2 year mark for all the Birth Class Buddy babys (our mom's group) we took pictures of all the babies together.

And who could resist naked babies??? This one I like to call "The Boys of Summer" (it's the boys in the group)

And here is something Jacob just has to share...

And while I'm at it. Listen to this. It is from one of Jacob's toys. When Phil first heard it he was in shock. Now of course, it's not saying anything bad, but it sure sounds like it...

I am watching my little man sleep right now. I should be taking a nap too, but there is so much to do. (Like finish this post!) He keeps popping his head up and looking to make sure I am still next to him. He smiles in his sleep. He is looking more like his daddy every day. Yes, this is a baby picture of Phil.

And one last thing before I have to take off to the Mommy & Me group...the stupid product of the day (or is it?): http://www.scrollingbuckle.com/ I know...It's so very off topic...

Take care and I'll post again as soon as I can. It took me 3 days to finish this one and I barely touched on everything.
